Tanzania Visa for Chinese Travellers: Step by Step

Two ways in

Chinese passport holders can apply online for a Tanzania e-visa before flying, or get a visa on arrival at Kilimanjaro International, Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar. The e-visa is cheaper in hassle, the visa on arrival is more forgiving if your plans change.

Documents for the e-visa

Passport valid six months beyond travel, a recent digital photo, a return or onward ticket, hotel confirmation, and the online application itself. Most applications are approved within five to ten working days.

The invitation letter

Tanzania immigration sometimes asks for a host or tour-operator letter. We issue one on Sia Blooms letterhead with your itinerary, arrival date and accommodation, free with every booking.

Cost and payment

The visa fee for most nationalities is USD 50 for a single entry, paid online by card for the e-visa. US passport holders pay USD 100 for a multiple-entry visa. Keep the approval printout with your passport.

Yellow fever and health

A yellow fever certificate is required if you arrive from a country with transmission risk, including Kenya if you transit there for more than a short connection. Check the current rule for your routing before you fly; the vaccine must be given at least ten days before travel.
